Bearcat Bike Share

The Bearcat Bike Share is a UC and student-led initiative to provide free bicycles to anyone with a UC ID. Riders can use the bikes on campus to get to class and work, or take the bicycles off campus to go run an errand, get some exercise or just explore the city. Free bikes at UC will create a sense of health, wellness and community, while decreasing carbon emissions, traffic and parking issues.
The Bearcat Bike Share is one part of The UC Bike Plan, published in December 2009, which includes many recommendations for increasing bicycle use at UC in order to promote a healthier and sustainable campus environment. It is the first bike share in our region.
The Bearcat Bike Share will be located on UC’s Uptown Campus in the Campus Recreation Center (west campus) and the Fitness Center at CARE/Crawley (east campus). Eventually the program will additional locations including East Campus and will interface with the proposed City of Cincinnati bike share program.
Fundraising efforts for the Bearcat Bike Share program are being led by the Student Development Council (SDC) and the Student Sustainability Coalition (SSC). The program is being administered by the President's Advisory Council on Envrionment and Sustainablity (PACES) with the support of Campus Recreation.
